AI in the Film and Music Industries

Artificial intelligence has made its way into film, music, and audio production. In addition to many practical functions that assist us with routine tasks, AI is also making an impact in creative fields. This opens up new possibilities for enhancing our own creativity, but generative AI is also sparking much debate surrounding copyright, deepfakes, and jobs.
Through the AI Act and the labeling requirement—which took effect on August 2, 2026—the European Union is striving to raise awareness and establish rules to protect human-created works in the long term.
For the fields of visual, music, and audio production, this means adhering to rules when using AI to ensure that its use in sensitive areas is clearly identifiable.
The Austrian Film and Music Industry Association provides guidance on its dedicated website.
